Utes quarterback Brandon Rose out for the season

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Sports) – In a year that has been devasted by season-ending injuries, the Utes football team has suffered another one.

After making his first career start, quarterback Brandon Rose has been lost for the year after suffering an undisclosed injury in Saturday’s 22-21 loss to BYU.

That leaves true freshman Isaac Wilson, who started six games this season, and Luke Bottari as the only healthy quarterbacks on the roster.

Utes mired in longest losing streak in 11 years

Rose completed 12 of 21 passes for 112 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions against BYU. He also rushed for 55 yards on seven carries.

“I thought he provided a spark and actually played pretty darn good,” Whittingham said about Rose’s performance against the Cougars. “I thought that Brandon, for his first collegiate start and first opportunity, did a really nice job. He did some good things.”

Wilson will most likely get the start Saturday at #18 Colorado. Wilson has thrown for 1,200 yards, eight touchdowns and eight interceptions this season.

The Utes lost Cam Rising for the season in a loss at Arizona State, while tight end Brant Kuithe was lost for the year after a lower leg injury against BYU.
