Tri-Cities Opera presents to Rotary

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Amidst its 75th anniversary season, the Tri-Cities Opera presented to Binghamton Rotarians about even more change in the future.

The general director for the opera, John Rozzoni was invited to speak at the Binghamton Noon Rotary Club’s weekly luncheon.

He says a key part of this 75th season, is touting the organizations variety of programs, like the packet opera project, opera ‘go round’ and new this year, the youth choir.

TCO’s next show is the Christmas Truce of 1914, which is a story about how the Allies and Germans set down their weapons and celebrated Christmas together, despite their war.

“The Tri-Cities Opera is not just a production company putting on shows at the Forum or the Opera Center. We do a whole lot more in this community and the Rotarians are very community focused and so, I want to bring them all into the loop about some of the exciting things we have going on,” said Rozzoni.

The opera recently celebrated repairing its leaking roof at its facility on Clinton Street.

Now, Rozzoni says they plan to build out the basement, adding space for educational programs and practicing. Including a chorus room, practice rooms and small classrooms.
