As part of a global day of student prayer referred to as See You at the Pole or SYATP, a half dozen Winchester High School Students met at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25th. The students gathered around the flagpole in front of the high school in the bright morning sun and bowed their heads in prayer for their classmates, teachers, friends and family.
What could easily be called a global phenomenon started with a prayer meeting with not many more students that met at WHS on Wednesday. A small group of teenagers in Burleson, Texas came together one weekend in 1990 for a church sponsored weekend event. The tradition they started of joining in prayer with other students to pray for other students, teachers and leaders caught on and today over one million students across the world participate in See You At the Pole every 4th day of September.
