Roadside Grill to offer homemade food in Winchester

By JESSICA BROWN

A new restaurant – the Roadside Grill – is set to open on Route 36 in Winchester in the near future. Owner and operator Christy Beddingfield said there is no definite date set for the Grand Opening, but her and fellow owner Ron Lacy are looking forward to bringing their brand of home cooked food to Winchester.

“We plan to do a lot of homemade food,” she said. “So a hamburger won’t be a frozen patty, it’ll be pressed from fresh ground beef.” The menu is set to consist of what she calls typical diner selections, like tenderloins, hamburgers, chicken wraps and appetizers. All of those items will be made fresh with the exception of some of the appetizers.

Beddingfield said they also plan to have specials each night. “Friday night will be fish, Saturdays will be steak and then Sunday will be chicken,” she said. Fresh, homemade pies will also be available.

Alcoholic beverages will be available as well, but not immediately upon opening. Beddingfield said they have obtained the necessary liquor license from the city but not yet from the state. The ability to offer gaming may also be in the works for the restaurant, she said, adding that getting the appropriate license for alcohol would be a priority before a gaming license.

Business hours for The Roadside Grill will be from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m on Thursday, Friday and Saturday for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast and lunch will be available on Sundays from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the restaurant will be closed on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
