A two-car crash on Maricopa’s main thoroughfare that ended with a Hyundai in bushes this morning was likely the result of a driver failing to yield, police said.
Maricopa police, fire crews and EMTs responded to the crash at North John Wayne Parkway and Edison Road at about 1:15 a.m., according to the Phoenix Regional Dispatch Center.
A holographic Dodge Charger was disabled with heavy front-end damage in the southbound lanes of John Wayne Parkway at the intersection. A red Hyundai Elantra, with heavy damage to its passenger side, was off the roadway in bushes southwest of the intersection. Airbags were deployed in both vehicles.
Police do not believe impairment was a factor and that it was caused by a driver failing to yield, Cpl. Julio Collazo told InMaricopa reporters at the scene. No one was hospitalized.
The intersection was cleared at 2 a.m.
