Latest women's march rallies on Boston Common

Another edition of the Women’s March was held Saturday at Boston Common, days before the second inauguration of President Donald Trump.

Women’s marches were scheduled across the country ahead of the inauguration — the events have been held through the Trump era, with rallygoers calling for equal rights, equal pay and justice for women nationwide.

About 1,000 people turned out for Boston’s event, “Women’s March: People’s March Boston 2025,” a spirited but smaller group than the one that showed up after Trump’s first inauguration in 2017.

“America wants fascism and America is going to descend into the abyss so we need to pull ourselves out,” organizer Maddie Lee said.

Among the speakers were city councilors from Boston, Cambridge and Somerville, as well as representatives from Planned Parenthood, the MA Trans Political Coalition, podcasters and more.

Among the top concerns voiced at the event were women’s reproductive rights and immigration — Trump has vowed to deport undocumented immigrants en masse.

“I’m an immigrant and ultimately the tide has turned in the wrong way,” marcher Imad Mouline said.

The event was organized by New England Independence Campaign, Ranked Choice Boston and Voter Choice Massachusetts.

Another march was held days before the election in November, with hundreds turning out in Boston in support of Vice President Kamala Harris.

Organizers of the event at a national level have said that the rebrand to The People’s March is part of an attempt to broaden their base.
