ArmInfo.By occupying strategic positions, Azerbaijan can make Armenia even more vulnerable. This was
the viewpoint shared by Garnik Danielyan, an opposition MP from the "Armenia" bloc, regarding the recent eleventh meeting of the State Commission on the Delimitation of the State Border between Armenia
and Azerbaijan.
According to the MP, amidst the public discussions about the latest
threats and ultimatums from Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, and
the ongoing " show" by the authorities, a new agreement has been
reached between the leaders of the two countries. This agreement,
according to Danielyan, pertains to the disputed sections of the
Kirants-Voskepar road in Tavush, where Azerbaijan intends encroach
an Armenian territory, based on the notorious GPS data.
As the MP explained, due to these actions, the enemy will gain
control of several sections of the Yerevan- Tbilisi interstate road,
posing serious strategic challenges and security threats for Armenia.
He also noted that the accuracy of this information is confirmed by
the President of Azerbaijan's own statement, indicating that a
meeting of the demarcation commissions will be held in January at his
suggestion. "It is obvious that Aliyev aims to gain new concessions
through blackmail, threats and ultimatums, to seize territories of
strategic importance and control key sections of the interstate
road. This can be justified by Pashinyan's well-known reasoning that
"if we do not give in, there will be a war" or "clarification of
borders," the opposition MP continued. In these conditions, as
Danielyan emphasized, it is important to raise awareness among the
public and be prepared to resist to avert possible threats and
protect the homeland.
