WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4) — Three people were hospitalized with flash burns after an electrical panel incident in West Valley City on Saturday, according to West Valley City Fire.
At around 9:15 a.m., electrical contractor workers were on site for a job, located on the 4000 West block of 2400 South, when the incident happened.
Five people were reportedly working on a transformer outside of a building when a “flash electrocution” occurred. While the cause of the flash is under investigation, Chief Nick Dodge, West Valley Fire, said it was clear the panel was still live when the incident happened.

Three people were hospitalized after the incident, one of whom was taken to the burn center at the University of Utah Hospital with serious burns to the front of his body. Two others suffered burn injuries to their hands and faces.
The remaining two were treated and released on scene, according to Dodge.
This incident is under investigation.
