WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4) — After another driver collided with a 23-year-old man as he was working on his car in West Valley City on Thursday night, that man is expected to survive, but lose both legs after the incident.
According to Roxeanne Vainuku, a public information officer with the West Valley City Police Department, the 23-year-old man was lying in the road with severe injuries — with one of his legs already amputated — when officers arrived at the scene.

Vainuku told ABC4.com that the man’s car was having “electrical issues,” lost power, and died, which kept him from being able to turn on his hazards while working on it.
The 23-year-old was reportedly behind his car when the other involved driver, an 80-year-old woman, rear-ended him and “pinched him between” the vehicles.
The woman told officials she did not see the 23-year-old or his car before the collision. She received minor injuries from her seatbelt.
The man was taken to the hospital after the incident. He is expected to survive, but lose both legs, according to Vainuku.
There is no further information at this time.
