Before responders could arrive, “two courageous bystanders entered the freezing waters and successfully pulled the driver to shore,” a release from Spanish Fork City states.

Because of “mid-level river flows and hazardous materials, including fuel leaking from the vehicle into the waterway,” the Utah Valley Special Response Team was called in to help with mitigation efforts. Officials reportedly confirmed that there is no public safety concerns due to this incident.

“We are deeply appreciative of the bravery displayed by these individuals. However, we want to remind the public of the significant dangers posed by freezing water and unknown conditions. Personal safety should always be your top priority,” Chief Eddie Hales, Spanish Fork Fire & EMS, stated.

Spanish Fork Police are currently investigating the cause of this crash. The condition of the driver has not been released.
